The Frisco Convention & Visitors Bureau is the official destination marketing organization for the city, marketing and selling to meetings, conventions, sports and tourism, and is responsible for increasing economic prosperity for Frisco, its residents and our marketing partners. Official accreditation recognizing excellence and achievement was awarded in 2009 through December 2012 and again in 2013 through December 2017 by the industry organization Destination Marketing Association International.
As Executive Director, Marla is at the helm of everything that goes on within the Frisco CVB. In addition to all of her years of meetings and tourism industry know-how, she's a knock-your-socks-off cook! Paying attention to the ingredients, tools, and techniques is what she does in the kitchen and very much spills over into what she does at work. Spicy food really gets her going. The spicier the food, the more she's willing to give it a try. Her adventuresome nature is also one of the reasons why she's done such a great job leading and moving the Frisco CVB forward. When she's not at work, she runs, like, 50 miles a week, and when she's not doing that, she loves to read. She could easily be a detective since murder mysteries and espionage are her favorite book topics.
Director of Marketing & Communications
Ryan is no stranger to the CVB and communications world! His passion for the tourism and hospitality industry, love of graphic design and communications keep him energized and ready to promote the city of Frisco everyday. When he has any downtime you can find him on the golf course in the Spring, the slopes in the Winter and his favorite vacation destination in Iceland. Ryan also loves to fire up his smoker throughout the year and make his award-winning ribs from his own homemade rub. He has never met a stranger and is a welcomed addition to the Frisco CVB staff!
Director of Sales & Services
Michael comes from the Omni Hotel corporation and knows how to make sure every client is taken care of with immaculate service and receives the best hospitality. When Michael is not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, wife Paula and two children Mason and Paxton. Weekends are spent on the football and soccer fields at the kid's games and when no games are being played then on the golf course. Although being from the northeast, Michael has always been a Cowboys fan from a very early age.
Senior Sales Manager
If shopping was an Olympic sport, Maureen Gutierrez would have more gold medals than she could count! She brings that passion, enthusiasm and confidence to work. When it comes to the markets she services, SMERF, Cheer and Dance, Hobby & Clubs, Gaming and Government, it's the lure of the hunt and then seeing what she catches that thrills her the most. She thoroughly explores what her clients want and then assists them with making their buying decisions. At home her number one priority is being a Super Mom. She plays basketball better than most 12 year olds, she's a short order cook, a hairdresser, homework expert, and drives the 'mom' taxi. She spends lots of weekends on the basketball courts watching her little 'bawler! and enjoys all the Sparkle with her two girls participating in competitive Cheer and Dance! When she's not 'carting' kids, she is enjoying all of the entertainment that Frisco has to offer. Maureen is a 16 year resident of Frisco who loves her city!
National Sales Manager
If there's anyone in the office that needs an idea about how to impress someone with absolute style and flare, LaChelle is the go-to person for ideas. She knows how to use her creative charm when it comes to selling her clients on bringing meetings and events to Frisco. LaChelle has been on the CVB sales team the longest, driving results in the sports and Texas association markets. She brings her 'A' game to the table, and given a level playing field, she'll turn it into a win-win situation. It doesn't matter if it's a marathon or a sprint, she constantly seeks out ways to go above and beyond. When she's not on the field at work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Sports Sales Manager
Chuck Brakes would be hard to miss in a room because at 6'7" he's usually the tallest person in the room! He lives, breathes and speaks sports and if you prod him, he also does a pretty good job at speaking French, too. It's the competitor at heart part that will bring him success with his full court press expanding our existing sports markets for us. He's the head coach at home and loves spending time with his family. If you talk about traveling, music or fast cars, you'll hit a home run with him. Right now we're just trying to find a company car with enough leg room to accommodate him!
Tourism Sales & Convention Services Manager
A woman who's memory definitely serves her correctly. Ask her just about anything and she'll be able to give you the details. Lisa joined us from the world of hotels, working her way through the ranks from convention services to sales. With her positive spirit and hospitable personality, she made it her personal goal to make sure every client was taken care of whether it be a meeting planner or a hotel guest. Other than her passion for people, she is completely smitten with pens. She can tell you just about anything you'd want to know about whatever you may happen to be writing with.
Wesley, the most recent addition to the Frisco CVB, began her career in the travel and tourism industry right out of high school. Not only does she bring experience to the team, but a passion and love of all things tourism and communications. Wesley greatly enjoys working with media contacts and sharing Frisco with them and visitors. When she is not working, Wesley enjoys spending time with her husband, Tyler, and with her family at their ranch in West Texas, playing golf, cheering on the Texas Tech Red Raiders or her favorite baseball team, the Boston Red Sox.
Sales & Services Coordinator
Norma's warm smile and friendly personality, is what brings her back to the hospitality industry, after working at a very popular resort on the island of Maui, Hawaii. She is originally from Texas, and is happy to be back home. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two kids (which are less than a year apart!) She recently ran her first marathon and is now proudly displaying the 26.2 sticker on her "mommy van!" She looks forward to starting her collection of shiny medals! She also enjoys playing volleyball, and has a great singing voice too. We look forward to hearing her sing around the office!
Vicki Blakely knows it takes two to tango on the dance floor. She's the only one of us in the office who could truly compete on Dancing With the Stars and have a shot at winning! You should see some of her costumes and her moves. Ballroom dancing is what keeps her on her toes when she's not at work. When she is at work, she helps the office keep its rhythm and flow as administrative assistant. It's sort of like a good partnership. She knows when to lead and when to follow. She's a trusted support system. If she's not dancing then you might find her on the golf course, reading, or sewing.
Originally from Frisco, Shelly has lived Frisco's transformation and enjoyed all the wonderful amenities our city has to offer first hand. Her background in hotels, hospitality, and volunteering help demonstrate her sincere compassion and love for helping others. She truly lives by the saying "a day without a smile is a day wasted." You will never see her without one! When she is not spending time with family and friends, she enjoys taking a yoga or spin class, playing a zombie apocalypse videogame, or catching up on her favorite shows while snuggling up with her two cats. Shelly has a passion for animals and if she could, she would probably rescue and adopt them all! We are looking forward to her energy and contagious smile around the office!
