The Frisco Convention & Visitors Bureau is the official destination marketing organization for the city, marketing and selling to meetings, conventions, sports and tourism, and is responsible for increasing economic prosperity for Frisco, its residents and our marketing partners. Official accreditation recognizing excellence and achievement was awarded in 2009 through December 2012 and again in 2013 through December 2017 by the industry organization Destination Marketing Association International.
As Executive Director, Marla is at the helm of everything that goes on within the Frisco CVB. In addition to all of her years of meetings and tourism industry know-how, she's a knock-your-socks-off cook! Paying attention to the ingredients, tools, and techniques is what she does in the kitchen and very much spills over into what she does at work. Spicy food really gets her going. The spicier the food, the more she's willing to give it a try. Her adventuresome nature is also one of the reasons why she's done such a great job leading and moving the Frisco CVB forward. When she's not at work, she runs, like, 50 miles a week, and when she's not doing that, she loves to read. She could easily be a detective since murder mysteries and espionage are her favorite book topics.
Director of Sales & Services
Charlie Spiegel is new to the CVB as Director of Sales & Services, but he's been in the industry for years. He brings a heartfelt dedication to his 3 kiddos (1 daughter and 2 boys), black lab, and wife, Wendy. His years in the industry, and the fact that he's a family man, also says he's no stranger to long term commitments. He knows the importance of quality relationships! He'll put that to work leading, developing and engaging our sales and services teams and bringing in new business. In between juggling family and work, Charlie loves cooking, camping and coaching baseball. We're waiting for him to wow us with something from the kitchen!
Senior Sales Manager
If there's anyone in the office that needs an idea about how to impress someone with absolute style and flare, LaChelle is the go-to person for ideas. She knows how to use her creative charm when it comes to selling her clients on bringing meetings and events to Frisco. LaChelle has been on the CVB sales team the longest, driving results in the sports and Texas association markets. She brings her 'A' game to the table, and given a level playing field, she'll turn it into a win-win situation. It doesn't matter if it's a marathon or a sprint, she constantly seeks out ways to go above and beyond. When she's not on the field at work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends.
One staple of Anna's wardrobe is her 4-inch tall heels. She doesn't leave home without them. That's how she developed calves of steel to do site tours and sprint through airports to bring in business from the corporate and national association markets. Something else that's part of her arsenal and serves her clients well is a compelling level of compassion and east Texas charm. She knows her stuff and only drinks two drinks - diet coke and Starbucks. She's close to her immediate and extended family, but when she has a chance to getaway, her favorite vacation destination is Cozumel, Mexico. She's originally from east Texas and believes all roads lead back to Gilmer!
If shopping was an Olympic sport, Maureen Gutierrez would have more gold medals than she could count! She loves a so-good-you-can't-ignore-it sale. She brings that same passion, enthusiasm, and confidence to work. When it comes to the markets she services, social, military, religious, education, and government, it's the lure of the hunt and then seeing what she catches that thrills her the most. She thoroughly explores want her clients want and then assists them with making their buying decisions. At home her number one priority is being a Wife and Mom. She plays basketball better than most 10 year olds, she's a short-order cook, a hairdresser, homework expert, and drives the 'mom' taxi. She spends lots of weekends at the ball field or watching cheerleading! When she's not 'carting' kids, she and her hubby are enjoying all the entertainment Frisco has to offer. They're 14-year residents who love Frisco!
Sports Sales Manager
Chuck Brakes would be hard to miss in a room because at 6'7" he's usually the tallest person in the room! He's also the newest addition to our staff as Sports Sales Manager for Frisco Is Sports. He lives, breathes and speaks sports and if you prod him, he also does a pretty good job at speaking French, too. It's the competitor at heart part that will bring him success with his full court press expanding our existing sports markets for us. He's the head coach at home and loves spending time with his family. If you talk about traveling, music or fast cars, you'll hit a home run with him. Right now we're just trying to find a company car with enough leg room to accommodate him!
Tourism Sales & Convention Services Manager
A woman who's memory definitely serves her correctly. Ask her just about anything and she'll be able to give you the details. That skill will come in handy as the new Tourism Sales and Convention Services Manager. Lisa joins us from the world of hotels, working her way through the ranks from convention services to sales. With her positive spirit and hospitable personality, she made it her personal goal to make sure every client was taken care of whether it be a meeting planner or a hotel guest. Other than her passion for people, she is completely smitten with pens. She can tell you just about anything you'd want to know about whatever you may happen to be writing with.
Sales and Services Coordinator
Gwen brings a laser, ninja focus to assisting the Frisco CVB Sales Team with client services and site tours. It has a lot to do with the fact that she was a corporate meeting planner with the Dr Pepper / Snapple Group before she came to work with the CVB. She can put anything into an excel spreadsheet, goes far more than the extra mile servicing groups, and put the 's' in customer service with her winning smile for her reunions and corporate clients! When she's not at work her passion is decorating. She's also a color expert and has an eye for putting a great look together. Working outdoors in the garden is high on her list of favorite things to do, as well.
Denise loves words and has a passion for finding, pitching, and writing about the many different stories that tell others what Frisco is really all about. She can't do it on her own and works closely with local, regional, and national media. For her it's all about keeping the eyeballs and ears of an audience and driving the message: Frisco is Just My Kind of City. She has a couple of degrees, has been a radio personality and television new writer, teaches, and really wants to get a Golden Retriever puppy, too. Denise is a movie buff who waits for everything to come on cable and refuses to play Words With Friends on her mobile phone because she wants to keep her job!
Vicki Blakely knows it takes two to tango on the dance floor. She's the only one of us in the office who could truly compete on Dancing With the Stars and have a shot at winning! You should see some of her costumes and her moves. Ballroom dancing is what keeps her on her toes when she's not at work. When she is at work, she helps the office keep its rhythm and flow as administrative assistant. It's sort of like a good partnership. She knows when to lead and when to follow. She's a trusted support system. If she's not dancing then you might find her on the golf course, reading, or sewing.
