French In Frisco: 4 Local Gems You’ll Love
Share:
During this summer Olympic Games, I’ve been tuned into the GOAT-ness that is Simone Biles, the unstoppable lineup of LeBron James and co., and Katie Ledecky, now the most decorated U.S. female athlete in Olympic history.
Since we’re not at the Paris 2024 Olympics, I’m bringing France to you with four local gems right here in Frisco.
Give it a read, grab your friends, and give these spots a try. Bon appétit!
La Parisienne French Bistro
If operating a restaurant was an Olympic sport, this would undoubtedly be the U.S. women’s gymnastics team, who clinched a team gold this year.
Decor that would make any Parisian proud. The City of Light’s most iconic dishes. Live saxophone and vocals five nights a week. Exquisite service. Need I say more?
Well, I will because it’s that good. La Parisienne French Bistro, situated in the lively Star District, crafts a winning roster of incredible menu items:
Brunch of Champions
- La Crepe Aux Champignons: mushrooms, Swiss cheese, Béchamel sauce
- Parisienne Pancakes: honey ricotta, mixed berries compote, whipped cream
- Mondi’s Brie Cuit Au Four: baked brie cheese, baguette toast, fig spread, pecans (my husband and I LOVED this one!)
Lunch Winners
- Bisque De Homard: lobster bisque
- Quiche Aux Saumon: fresh salmon, red onions, cream cheese
- Parisienne Burger: two patties, brie, arugula, mushrooms, aioli, pommes frites
Dinner Gold Medalists
- Jumbo Crab Cake: jumbo lump crab, warm bacon vinaigrette
- Le Confit de Canard: duck leg, Bordelaise sauce, potato au gratin, frisée
- Spicy Rigatoni Pasta: creamy vodka sauce, parmesan cheese, option to add chicken, salmon or steak (this was my dinner—while delicious, be warned: its spice level is not for the weak)
Plus, handspun cotton candy towers, over a dozen French wines, and an impressively curated cocktail list with all the champagne your heart desires.
Dine amidst Tiffany Blue accents, peaceful water features, a 3D Paris art mural, lush greenery, and florals. La Parisienne offers the perfect vibe for a bridal or baby shower, date night, tea party, or late-night coffee—you can say merci to me later.
Tulla Patisserie & Cafe
Indulge in a little slice of France at Tulla Patisserie & Cafe, whipping up crave worthy pastries, artisan bread, and a charming atmosphere.
Founded by husband-and-wife team Jennifer and Brian Bezdek, Tulla Patisserie is all about bringing classic French techniques and flavors to Frisco. Jennifer, a graduate of the San Francisco Baking Institute, envisioned a neighborhood bakery where friends and families could connect. And here, tradition reigns supreme. Breads and pastries are meticulously crafted by hand, taking up to three (!) days to complete.
You can’t miss Tulla’s beautiful mural wall of Paris’ most esteemed sights, like the Seine River and Eiffel Tower. To complement the piece is an inviting aroma of freshly baked bread and the delightful sight of skilled bakers working their magic. The open floor plan gives you a front-row seat to the dedication and artistry involved in creating Tulla’s most delectable treats.
Its star lineup? Macarons in all the tempting options like birthday cake, blueberry, and chocolate. Fun fact: guests make special trips to Tulla just for the famed butter croissant! I ordered the blueberry muffin and when I tell you I could taste the blueberries bursting in every bite, I’m not exaggerating. Fans of the savory can grab a quiche croissant or ham and Gruyère viennoiserie (if you had to Google ‘viennoiserie,’ it’s essentially a French breakfast pastry known as the bridge between boulangerie and patisserie). Or, go above and beyond—Simone Biles style—for your next Olympic watch party with Tulla’s catering.
P.S. Throughout August, you can enter for a chance to win a FREE Tulla croissant and a large coffee. Visit Tulla by 8/31 to guess how many coffee beans are in their jar. May the best guess win!
Paris Baguette
4,909 miles to Paris is quite the trek. Don’t worry—Paris Baguette transports the spirit of the Games to you.
Immediately as I opened its doors, Frisco itself felt 4,909 miles away. The bright, aesthetic tile was the backdrop I needed to get some work done while relishing a warm, unbelievably flaky chocolate croissant and coffee.
Carb lovers, rejoice: Paris Baguette has a showstopping selection of gourmet donuts, sweet AND savory pastries, and, of course, the bistro’s namesake: baguettes! The cases are truly a sight to behold (seriously, I think my serotonin increased just looking at all the options). I mean, check out these item names: lemon custard cream donut. Pineapple brulée pastry. Sticky milk buns. Coffee croissant donut. Hawaiian jalapeño quiche. Crab meat croquette. Pepperoni pizzetta. Wow. The team gets points added to their difficulty score in that everything’s baked fresh daily. I would say I’m speechless, but I do have more words to write.
Paris Baguette is the latest eatery to arrive in the West Frisco neighborhood (opened early June 2024), with addresses in Carrollton, Lewisville, Coppell, Grand Prairie, and a new one arriving soon in Allen. A French-inspired bakery with South Korean roots, the chain opened its first U.S. café in 2005.
Take home a box of favorites or place a catering order to sweeten up your Olympics watch party!
Cracked & Crepe
Say oui oui to the deliciousness that is Cracked & Crepe. With multiple restaurants across DFW, this fun café is a local favorite for breakfast and lunch.
Here, fresh ingredients take center stage. From classic comfort foods to heart-healthy options, there's something to satisfy every palate. The menu features omelets, skillets, and benedicts, alongside lighter fare like salads, smoothies, avocado toast, and podium-placing pastries. Treat yourself to irresistible Belgian waffles and the sweet, beautifully decorated crepes that excel in both taste and showmanship.
Celebrate like an athlete with a hearty breakfast like the Olympic Scrambler: 3 scrambled egg whites, mushrooms, spinach, onions, tomatoes, and avocado, served with fresh fruit and multi-grain toast.
Your brunch is projected to be a success on the adorable patio, but take note—the dishes are sized for sharing, so order a few things for the table if you’re out with a group for a variety of options.
Cracked & Crepe is the perfect place to fuel up before a day of exploring Frisco or simply enjoying a leisurely meal with friends and family!
The summer Olympics only air once every four years but luckily, these French Frisco spots are open for your eating pleasure daily.
