The NCAA Southland Conference, which represents 13 universities across three states, has called Frisco home for more than a decade.
The conference, in conjunction with the City of Frisco and Hunt Sports Ventures, has successfully hosted the Division I Football Championship title game at FC Dallas’ Toyota Stadium, playing to capacity crowds.
The 50-plus-year-old conference sponsors championship competition in eight men’s and nine women’s NCAA-sanctioned sports and represents more than 4,000 student-athletes.
Famous sports alums from Southland Conference schools include: Chicago Bulls legend Scottie Pippen, who attended Central Arkansas University; Baltimore Orioles star Wade Miley, Southeastern Louisiana; Baltimore Ravens free safety Lardarius Webb, Nicholls State; and legendary NFL coach O.A. “Bum” Phillips, Lamar and Stephen F. Austin.
