Flea Style in Frisco Breathes Life into the Vintage Shopping World

Nestled in the heart of The Star District in Frisco, Flea Style is home to a unique shopping experience. The second a customer walks through the front door, they see curated jewelry collections, vintage fashion finds, and trinkets for all decor needs. To the right is the beloved custom hat bar and opposite is Heirloom Haul, the in-house cafe and tea room. The three-in-one storefront has grown immensely since owner Brittany Cobb’s first flea market concept store opened eight years ago in downtown Dallas. The inventory consists of everything fashion related from denim to loungewear.

After the opening of her first store, dreams had become reality when The Star District reached out to Cobb to bring her popular markets to Frisco. With the events being a hit, opening a second location in the growing area was only natural.

“I loved Frisco at the time of opening it because it was far enough from our Dallas location where it did feel like it was really touching very different audiences and shoppers, but as a local mom with young kids, it was easy for me to do both,” Cobb said. “But in all honesty, I didn't really know the Frisco market at all. I had never been to the store or even Frisco until they had me come look at it, and so it was really fun to discover that customer who is so engaging. They loved having something so local in an area where at the time that was really rare.”

Shop & Dine

Out of nine brick and mortar stores, Flea Style’s Frisco space is the largest, and one of two locations with the connected restaurant, Heirloom Haul. The dining room’s details bring the brand’s vision to life with light fixtures and vintage china each from flea markets. Aside from locally-made baked goods, the menu is full of classic lunch items including sandwiches, salads, and soups. In addition, the dining concept offers four different types of tea services and seasonal menu items for holidays such as Easter and Mother’s Day.

Heirloom Haul is more than just a quick bite after the shopping experience- it cultivates memories. On any given day, patrons are joined by mother-daughter tea dates or birthday parties each with the backdrop of the iconic Airstream decorated with balloons to add to the aesthetic.

“At The Star there’s so many great restaurant options. But especially when we opened, they were all pretty glitzy or very big brands, so it was kind of fun to have something more feminine, special, and sweet,” Cobb said.

Part of the charm Cobb has cultivated comes from the all-around atmosphere she created within the space. Everything from the bohemian rugs to the rustic decor allows for the store to invite the shopper into a trendy world of their own. 6,300 feet of space is filled with comfort and design, making for an ideal and fun filled shopping day.

Space to Celebrate & Enjoy the Hat Bar

With the immense size, customers are also able to book private parties in the private event space.

“We have 1,000 square feet dedicated for baby showers, bridal showers, birthday parties, PTAs- whatever people want. It’s a four-wall private room, beautiful, where people can really celebrate special moments,” she said.

The stylish taste and priority on creating memories are each emphasized in the iconic hat bar portion of the store. What started as people complimenting Cobb’s fun wide brim hats while she visited the Frisco location, turned into 75% of the business.

“I had this empty space, and I was like, maybe I turn it into this thing called a hat bar", Cobb said. "I'll make it a bar where they can have a glass of champagne, because we have the restaurant. Long story short, it was the home of our very first hat bar.”

Inside the hat bar, bowls of vintage matchbooks, colorful feathers, and glinting gold pins don the tables, ready to be artfully placed on a project whether it be a wedding day accessory or birthday present. Leather and the smell of branding fill the room with anticipation.

With the unique concept, the possibilities are truly endless, and occasions are meant to be celebrated either by walk-in or online reservations.

Along with the storefront, Flea Style hosts seasonal pop-up events two to three times a year in partnership with The Star. The open-air markets allow the company to celebrate its roots and support the small business they’ve worked with throughout the years. The next Market at The Star will take place in the fall.

A love of vintage shopping and curated collecting has become more popular than ever, and Flea Style is the quintessential shopping experience for people who want a special experience all while shopping local.

“I was told by a few people that if you can open one spot successfully, congratulations. But if you can open two, you can open 20,” Cobb said. “Scaling is the hardest thing, and so opening Frisco was always my biggest challenge.  If I could figure it out, I really had a recipe for success in retail and restaurants, which is challenging in general. Frisco was always so important to me and a location I really studied and focused on.”

Flea Style is a spot for Frisco locals to frequent and out-of-town visitors to cherish and make lasting memories over tea and knick-knacks or custom hats and cool finds.
