Baseball rule changes may have brought in the bigger bases this season, but the Frisco RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, brought in the big fun for their 20th season celebration! Fresh paint, new flooring, makeovers, landscaping, audio and technology upgrades, a new umpire locker room, new food menu items, and an expanded promotions schedule really maximize the family fun.

Leading the Riders Over the Years

The RoughRiders General Manager, Scott Burchett, is in his 19th season with the team, and has been instrumental in the success of initiatives from community and corporate partnerships to fan entertainment and facilities operations.

"It’s been fun to see the ballpark and the team grow up with the city of Frisco, change right alongside it, and represent the community that we serve."

Those facilities, now known as Riders Field, got an injection of new life in August of 2014, when Chuck Greenberg’s ownership group bought the team. In fact, upgrades like the state-of-the-art HD video board, Riders Outpost Team Store, and the famous Lazy River in right field earned Ballpark Digest’s “Best Ballpark Renovation” award in 2015 and 2016.

"It’s been fun to see the ballpark and the team grow up with the city of Frisco, change right alongside it, and represent the community that we serve. When I first started it was pretty much the RoughRiders and the mall across the street. Now we have so many entertainment options, so many things make Frisco such a vibrant community to live in and work in,” Burchett said.

Delivering a Top Fan Experience

Burchett explained that the Riders are always trying to learn from industry best practices, learn, get better, and make sure they deliver a top fan experience. They like to treat every game day like it’s opening day, and with 69 home games, that takes teamwork from the grounds crew to the creative promotions calendar. To achieve that top fan experience, the RoughRiders go big on mascots, in-game entertainment, player access, and ways to enjoy the game, including:

Four Mascots - Say hi to Deuce, Daisy, Bull Moose, and Ted E. Bear at Riders Field.
Brooks – Shake paws with the best team dog in the business. You can find Brooks at the ballpark and say hello, and he even sits for pictures.
Fireworks – Stay for the fireworks after Friday and Sunday games.
Horse and Rider – Meet Diva at every Sunday Riders home game.
In-Game Entertainment - From fan-favorite baby races to wiener dog races to hilarious mascot skits and more, enjoy the best of on-field games and entertainment in between innings.
Kids Run the Bases – Step onto the field like the Riders players when kids get to run the bases after each Saturday game.
Lawn Seats – Bring a blanket and sit on the grass to enjoy the views from the outfield in the H-E-B Family Lawn section.
Lazy River – Watch the game from the pool in right field, the world's largest water feature in a sports facility
Pregame Catch on the Field - Bring your glove to every home Sunday game for pregame catch on the field as part the Kids Sunday Funday presented by Raising Cane’s.
Pregame Player Autographs – Get a pregame or postgame autograph from available players.
